KALARI CHIKITSA

Marmas are the pressure points within the body usually close to the skin surface, where important nerves form juncctures with muscles fibres, veins, bones and joints. Marmas are the vital points of the body. Prana (life energy) flows through the body channeled through marmas or vital points. The 107 Marmas points are categories in terms of their effect on the vitality of the body.

KALARI UZHICHIL
Uzhichil is a unique hereditary kalari massage theraphy used to rejuvenate the nervous and muscular systems of the body and to stimulate blood circulation. Medicinal Oils are used for performing Uzhichil (Kalari massage). A specific amount of pressure is to be applied on to the muscles for stimulating the functioning of the nervous and circulatory systems. Both the hands and feet of the theraphist are used in Uzhichil treatment. There are 3 types of Uzhichil in kalari and they are Sukhathirummu, Rakshathirummu and Kachathirummu.
MARMA KIZHI
A Kizhi is a cloth bundle, containing secret herbal leaves, medicinal oils and powders. The kalari massage given to the patients with this Kizhi is called Kizhithirummu or Pindadwardanam. The Kizhi is dipped into medicinal oils (Thilam) during the kalari massage. Where there is pain and swelling, with the right kind of Thailam. Owing to the combined effect of the medicated Kizhi and the warmth, it is highly effective in treating Osteo and Rheumatic (Rheumatoid) arthritis. This can also be used to treat old bruises and other disorders


PRAVABHEDA(JOINT PAIN) & JANU PIDA (KNEE PAIN)

SWEDANA (AAVIKULI)
Swedana is a steam treatment explained in Ayurvedic medical science. The word Sweda is derived from Sanskrit swid, meaning ‘to sweat or to perspire’. So swedana is the process of inducing sweat with the help of steam, generated from medicated herbal decoctions. Due to the secret medicines used, Swedana in kalari is entirely different from Ayurveda. Swedana can be done on the entire body or on specific body parts. It is a very effective treatment for body swelling and pain.
